The Greenest Neighbourhood in North America Becomes Even Greener!
In 2010, the Vancouver Athletes Village was awarded the LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and designated as the greenest, most energy efficient, and sustainable neighbourhood on Earth.
THE PROBLEM
In spite of being a LEED Platinum Neighbourhood, four of the buildings (The Brook, The Bridge, Shoreline and Canada House) used too much energy, and common areas such as hallways and parking lots in the buildings were too dark.
THE SOLUTION
Radiance Energy replaced common area lighting in all four high-rise residential buildings with LED solutions. These buildings exceeded 70% in energy savings with light quality improving by 30+%. We were able to work with our local utility to obtain greater than 35% rebate for our customer.
